Getting To Know A B Pest Control & Insulation
Question: What does “A B” stand for?
Answer: Believe it or not the "B" in A B does not stand for Bert. We couldn't come up with a name and wanted something family oriented, so we used A for our daughter Amanda and B for our son Brandon.
Question: Can you tell us a little bit more about your family?
Answer: My wife Lisa and I have the two kids as mentioned above. Bert and Lisa are both from St. Louis and moved to the Lake of the Ozarks around the same time in their lives.
Question: How did you get into pest control?
Answer: Bert - I was offered a job at a local pest control company and wanted to change what I was doing for a living, I had worked in restaurants and garages my whole life and thought it would be a good change.
Lisa - I came on immediately as we opened our own business.
Question: What is your favorite thing about your job?
Answer: Finding ways to make people happy and be able to take care of problems. New challenges present themselves all the time with chemical changes, new pests, or some problem that no one else wants to deal with.
Question: Have you always wanted to be in pest control?
Answer: Not exactly, I was offered a job with a local pest control company and we felt it was a chance to better our family. When that company sold, I tried to stay on at the new company, but the customer service with the new company was suffering, we were asked to do it ourselves. We decided to see if we could give the customers the service they were missing. In reflection, we had no idea how big this could get.
Question: What do you like to do on your free time?
Answer: Bert - I like to ride dirt bikes in the woods.
Lisa - I like to read.
Question: What is the most common bug you treat at the Lake of the Ozarks?
Answer: Spiders are probably the most common bug at the lake, this is in part that the lake is a perfect breeding ground for them.
Question: What’s on your bucket list?
Answer: It will sound cliche but, both of us feel blessed with what we've been given in life and if this is the best it gets then we couldn't be happier. We value family time as we know tomorrow is never promised.
Question: How was insulation added to your business?
Answer: It started as an innocent process. We wanted to offer the insulation with pest control cellulose to our customers to see if it would help with spiders, etc. We purchased a small machine to blow additional insulation in attics, etc. In the state of Missouri, you are required to have a pesticide license to install the pest control cellulose. About a year later we were approached by an individual that had a vast amount of experience in the insulation industry and as they say, the rest is history.
