Geranium:  Rose geranium is a successful repellent for ticks.  It’s safe on kids and pets.

Cedarwood:  Cedarwood is toxic to ticks.  It’s safe on kids and dogs.

Peppermint:  Mint essential oils, including spearmint, is a strong repellant to big and small pests.  Mice, spiders, ants, fleas, and more all hate the mint smells.

Citronella: The most famous essential oil for insect repellants. It has been registered as an official repellent AND a non-toxic biopesticide since after World War 2.  

Eucalyptus:  Eucalyptus is a common flea, tick, and mosquito repellant. Use a diluted concentration sparingly, as Eucalyptus can be toxic if ingested. Some people will use diluted eucalyptus sprays around the house or around pet areas to help deter fleas.

Lavender:  Not only does it have a soothing, almost calming effect on us, it is also a potent insect and pest repellent.  There is some sparse data that has shown lavender oil can prevent tick eggs from hatching. It is ok on young kids and animals (diluted, of course).

However, there will be perks to using the Passport! Participants are invited to 'Check-in' using the designated LOZ Mardi Gras Pub Crawl Passport at designated venue stops within this three day event to be entered into various prize drawings. 

• Visit 50% of the participating stops and be entered into the prize drawings
• Visit 100% of the participating stops and be entered into the prize drawings as well as entered for a chance at the Grand Prize Drawing of a $1000 CASH PRIZE!

$10 event charge required.

Did you know that part of Stark Cavern's history is that it was used as a speakeasy in the 1900 prohibition era with a complete dance floor? Well for a limited time in February the dancing is back! For our Dessert and Dancing event, we will have a professional ballroom dance instructor to teach you and your Valentine some fun beginner dance steps.

You will also be greeted with a champagne reception (must be 21 for champagne), and for your sweet tooth, we partnered with "Cakes Baby" in Downtown Eldon to create a romantic tour where you will indulge in several delicious dessert samples. Samples will include heart-shaped macaroons, strawberry cheesecake, and chocolate truffles. This event is only for four nights on the 5th, 6th, 12th, and 13th of February from 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. and we are limiting the capacity to 16 people per night so you will want to reserve your spot quickly before it's sold out. The price is $90.00 per couple, $45.00 dollars per person.
