The Gift of Freedom

With the recent anniversary of the horrific tragedy that occurred on September 11, 2001, this week is a week for remembrance. At A B Pest Control, we wanted to take the time to remember all the lives that were lost that day and to thank those that continue to fight for our country.

A Day That We Will Never Forget

On September 11, 2001, two planes were flown into the twin towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon just outside of Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania.

At the World Trade Center, 2,763 people died. This includes 343 firefighters and paramedics, 23 New York City police officers and 37 Port Authority police officers.

At the Pentagon, 189 people were killed, including the 64 on American Airlines Flight 77.

On Flight 93, 44 people died when the plane crash-landed in Pennsylvania.

This is a day that will forever be imprinted on the memory and hearts of all Americans. We are so thankful for all the first responders that put their lives on the line that day as well as each and every day.

The Gift of Freedom

A price is paid so that civilians are granted freedom each day. Freedom continues to be free because of the military service members who have sacrificed for us and continue to sacrifice. They selflessly risk everything so we can continue to live the way we do. We are thankful for our freedom and are thankful for our service members sacrifice. One way we show our gratitude is through Veteran’s Day.

Veterans Day

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918, an armistice was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in the First World War. Commemorated as Armistice Day beginning the following year, November 11th became a legal federal holiday in the United State in 1938. After World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became Veterans Day.

Veterans Day is a day we celebrate to pay tribute to all American veterans-living or dead-but especially to give thanks to living veterans who have served their country honorably.
